Telemedicine

Dr. Ray Dorsey and colleagues began providing specialist care to patients via telemedicine in 2005. A decade later, his team launched a national research study comparing telemedicine to traditional, in-clinic visits. Results showed that the quality of telemedicine care is equivalent to in-person care and patients were highly satisfied with the care they received. These findings led to the creation of Parkinson Disease Care New York (PDCNY), a statewide telemedicine program that has provided care to over 400 patients. We on the PDCNY team are humbled to continue in pursuit of our aims to improve satisfaction with care and address barriers to access.

Center for Health + Technology

The Center for Health + Technology at the University of Rochester aims to enable anyone anywhere to receive care and participate in research. We currently employ over 80 talented and diverse individuals to conduct unprecedented studies to evaluate new treatments and measures of disease. Over the past 30 years, CHeT has conducted over 100 studies and enrolled over 40,000 participants, leading to seven FDA-approved drugs for Parkinson’s disease, Huntington disease, and other neurological conditions.
